In the spring of 2008 South Suburban Park and Recreation District’s Board of Directors invited all District residents to participate in the process of updating the District’s Gold Medal long-range plan. This plan will help guide the District in fulfilling the park and recreation needs of the community for the next several years.
The Gold Medal Citizens’ Committees met during the spring and summer months of 2008 to analyze current recreational programs and facilities, parks, trails and open space; to research demographics and trends; and to make recommendations to the District’s Gold Medal Steering Committee. Based on the various draft recommendations the Steering Committee presented their final recommendations at the Board of Directors meeting on Wed., November 12, 2008.
LaDonna Jurgensen, a local CPA and recognized community leader, and Vorry Moon, who has over 30 years of community development and planning expertise, were appointed by the Board of Directors to co-chair the Steering Committee.

The District will provide exhibit space at various recreation facilities, for student artwork generated in District programs and for artwork created by individuals and groups from Colorado. Art exhibits at these facilities are intended to support and promote the District’s mission to enrich the lives of our residents. The materials displayed in the recreation facilities must be suitable for viewing by District patrons of all ages. Therefore, the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC) and the South Suburban Board of Directors reserve the right to ensure that art displays are balanced and appropriate.
