Winter Break Shooting Camp

The Institute Basketball Academy and South Suburban Parks and Recreation have teamed up to offer a Winter Break basketball shooting camp! This camp is for beginner to advanced players. The Institute’s professional coaching staff will focus on individual skills from proper technique to developing good mechanics. 

Dates: December 26 - 27 
Who: Kindergarten - 8th grade; boys/girls; beginner to advanced
Sessions: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Beginner); 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. (Advanced)
Price: $60 Resident, $70 Nonresident

Winter Recreational League

Season includes eight games. Players of all playing abilities are welcome.

All games (Kindergarten - 6th grade) are played on Saturdays starting on January 4 through February 22 between 8am and 8pm. Boys 7th/8th grade games are played on Tuesdays. Girls 7th/8th grade games will be played on Wednesday (with possible games on Saturdays based on number of teams).

Separate divisions for boys and girls.

Boys: K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th/8th
Girls: K/1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th/8th

December 18: Game Schedules Released at 5:00 p.m.

Practice location, time, and day will be determined after our Coaches Meeting at the end of October. Teams will practice once a week for one hour. Practices are held at area schools and SSPRD recreation centers. Practice could be any time Monday through Friday 4 - 9 pm.

Price: (Grade K-3 $90 resident/$115 non-resident : Grade 4-8 $95 resident/$120 non-resident)


Players will need to purchase a South Suburban basketball jersey for games. Jerseys are $12 and can be purchased at the time of registration. Jerseys can be reused each year.

Players should wear basketball shoes and athletics shorts to play.

Refund Policy

Refunds are determined on a case to case basis. The South Suburban Parks and Recreation District refund policy states:

Refunds must be requested 3 business days prior to scheduled start of activity (November 6, 2019). There is a $5 service charge per participant on requested refunds, or save the service charge by requesting a South Suburban Gift Card. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing. Returned checks subject to additional fees.

Little Hoopers

Allows children to learn the fundamentals of basketball, while also getting to experience live game play. This division is welcome to children with birthdates between 9/30/2014 - 9/30/2016 with all playing abilities. There will be two four week sessions offered, one in January and one in February.

General Information

  • Total of 4 practices/games
  • Practices/Games will be played on 6’ hoops on a modified short court
  • A 22” ball will be used
  • Practices/Games will be played every Saturday at 8:30 am
  • Each week will consist of practice and instructional drills led by volunteer coaches, followed by live game play against other teams in the division
  • Prices: Resident $39/Nonresident $49

Winter Competitive League

The newest competitive youth basketball league in the South Metro Denver area. The High Line Competitive League offers teams the opportunity to play basketball on a full court with a 10 foot basket. This league is designed for the most competitive teams in 3rd - 5th grade.

League Information
Game only league (8 games + tournament). No practices will be assigned through this league. Practice space may be available for an additional charge. If you wish to inquire about space for practices, please contact Ryan Daberkow at 

Games start Thursday, November 21.

  • 3rd and 4th grade play on Thursdays or Saturdays
  • 5th grade play on Thursdays

Teams must provide their own uniforms and have two colors (home - white/light and away - dark).
